DC System - 2019

  1. Heavier wire to starter solenoid.
  2. Wire in the aft station binnacle.
  3. DC outlets around the boat.
  4. Replace 2 outlets with the new 120VAC outlet with USB cahrging ports.
Item 1: Add heavier wire to starter solenoid.
I spent most of the day adding the new #10 wire and guess what? It no worky..
The starter turned but it didn't engage the bendix gear. Now what?
So I took the solenoid off and found it was totally foo bar as you can see.
The copper connection ring has certainly seen better days.
Even the heavy terminal that connects to the starter has broken off the coil wire.
I will eat humble pie and re-install the original wire and order a new solenoid.
Item 2: Power to the remote indicator is complete and here it is working under the dome. The data is sent wireless from the main steering station.

Item 3: At the Helm I will need to put in the DC cigarette lighter/USB socket panel to run my iPad for navigation. But first I need to fill in this area with something to mount it too. So I start by making a cardboard template.

This is the unit bought. Has a cigarette lighter socket, and 2 USB charger ports. Installed, wired and ready to go.. Looks good !

May as well fill in the other side while I'm at it. First thing to do was add a stick for the new upholstery to mount too. It also sets it out to make room for the propane hose. All done !
